External Relations Director
Julie Donovan received her Masters in Public Relations from Boston University’s College of Communication in January 2014, and soon after went to work as Communications Director to former Massachusetts state senator Stephen Brewer, Chair of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, until his retirement in 2015. At Boston University, she served as a research assistant to Professor Cheryl Lambert for Understanding the Image of Student Health Centers, a scholarly article focused on the communications strategies employed by university health centers to reach individual students. She has also worked for a number of nonprofit organizations, including PowerOptions, Inc., the largest energy-buying consortium for nonprofits and government entities in the state of Massachusetts, the One for Health Foundation, and the Center for Nonprofit Management at Stonehill College.
She is passionate about developing targeted messaging and storytelling for mission-driven organizations to reach their audiences, by using both new and traditional media.
